Odessa District Permit Restrictions

These restrictions were ordered by the Texas Department of Transportation, Odessa District. For questions about these restrictions, contact the following people in the district office:

County Date Restriction
All Counties, All Highways 06-10-13 Modified escort requirements:
  • Over 16’ wide: One escort is required.
  • Over 18’ wide: Front and rear escorts are required.
  • Andrews County, Andrews Truck Route 11-12-13 All loads must detour Andrews via the designated truck route.
    This truck route consists of Andrews Loop 1910.
    Loads with an origin from or destination to Palmer of Texas have blanket approval to travel on US385 between NW.1500 Rd and N.Andrews Loop 1910.

    This is a permanent restriction.
    Andrews County, SH176 WB 02-06-13 All oversize/overweight vehicles traveling on SH176 westbound must not park on the highway right-of-way between US385 and the Texas/New Mexico Line.
    Andrews County, SH176 11-25-15 12' max width between 6 ½ miles west of FM181 and 4 miles west of FM181.
    Crane County, Crane Truck Route 02-20-14 Must use the designated Crane truck route which is jointly required by Odessa District and the City of Crane.
    This truck route consists of SH329 between US385 to SE County Rd, the northeast side consists of SE County Rd and NE County Rd, and the northwest side consists of NW County Rd and SW County Rd.

    This is a permanent restriction.

    Note: SE.County Rd, NE.County Rd, NW County Rd, and SW County Rd must be used like highways.
    Crane County, SH329 11-08-12 No permits between SW County Rd and US385 in Crane.
    SW County Rd is located approximately ½ mile west of US385.
    Ector County, City of Odessa 06-14-12 All loads must be detoured around Odessa using IH20 and/or LP338.

    This is a permanent restriction.

    If a load has an origin or destination inside LP338 on a state maintained highway that does not have specific restrictions the permit specialist does not have to obtain district approval.
    Ector County, IH20 NFR and SFR 06-07-16 12' max width on the NFR and SFR between W.LP338 and ½ mile east of FM1882
    Ector County, Crane Ave over IH20 in Odessa 07-21-16 12’ max width and/or no weight over IH20.
    Crane Ave is located approximately ¾ mile west of US385.
    Ector County, IH20 NFR and SFR 01-26-16 12' max width on the NFR and SFR between ½ mile west of E.LP338 and ½ mile east of E.LP338.
    Ector County, IH20 over E.LP338 03-26-15 No weight over E.LP338.
    Ector County, W.BI20 WB to IH20 EB in Odessa 09-16-08 There is no access traveling W.BI20 WB to IH20 EB.
    Ector County, W.BI20 SFR WB to IH20 WB in Odessa 09-16-08 There is no access traveling W.BI20 SFR WB to IH20 WB.
    Ector County, BI20 in Odessa 06-15-12 No permits between FM1882 and 8th St in Odessa.
    Only loads with an origin or destination on BI20 between FM1882 and 8th St in Odessa can travel inside the restricted area.
    The permit specialist must obtain approval from the Odessa Office at (432) 498-4754 or (432)498-4752 for loads with an origin or destination inside the restricted area.
    8th St is located approximately 1 1/4 miles west of E.LP338

    This is a permanent restriction.
    Ector County, JCT BI20 & US385 in Odessa 01-29-13 18'6" max height for the following maneuvers at JCT BI20 & US385:
  • BI20 EB/WB
  • US385 NB/SB
  • All turns

  • This is a permanent restriction.

    This is due to overhead lights.
    Ector County, US385 06-15-12 No permits between SP450 and BI20 in Odessa.
    Only loads with an origin or destination on US385 between SP450 and BI20 in Odessa may in this restriction.
    The permit specialist must obtain approval from the Odessa Office at (432) 498-4754 or (432)498-4752 for loads with an origin or destination in this restriction.

    This is a permanent restriction.
    Ector County, US385 06-15-12 No permits between SP450 and SH191 in Odessa.

    Note: Loads with an origin or destination on US385 from SH191 to SP450 do not need to get Odessa District approval, but they must travel north on US385 to leave the area or travel south on US385 to enter the area. Otherwise, they must use LP338 to detour downtown Odessa to go to/from IH20.
    Ector County, SH191 06-15-12 No permits between FM1882 and E.LP338 in Odessa.
    Only loads with an origin or destination on SH191 between FM1882 and E.LP338 in Odessa may travel in this restriction.
    The permit specialist must obtain approval from the Odessa Office at (432) 498-4754 or (432)498-4752 for loads with an origin or destination in this restriction.

    This is a permanent restriction.
    Ector and Midland Counties, SH191 ML, SFR, and NFR 05-25-16 12' max width on the ML, SFR, and NFR between E.LP338 and SH349.
    Ector County, FM1882 06-14-12 No permits between SH191 and BI20 in Odessa.
    Only loads with an origin or destination on FM1882 between SH191 and BI20 in Odessa may travel in this restriction
    The permit specialist must obtain approval from the Odessa Office at (432) 498-4754 or (432)498-4752 for loads with an origin or destination in this restriction.

    This is a permanent restriction.
    Ector County, SP450 06-15-12 No permits between FM1882 and US385 in Odessa.
    Only loads with an origin or destination on SP450 between FM1882 and US385 may travel in this restriction.
    The permit specialist must obtain approval from the Odessa Office at (432) 498-4754 or (432)498-4752 for loads with an origin or destination in this restriction.

    This is a permanent restriction.
    Martin County, JCT IH20 & FM829 08-30-05 There is no access traveling IH20 EB main lane to FM829.
    Martin County, IH20 SFR 08-20-10 No lowboy type trailers at W.BI20 in Stanton.
    Martin County, W.BI20 over IH20 in Stanton 03-11-14 No permits crossing over IH20.
    Martin County, SH137 03-20-12 No lowboy type trailers over the railroad crossing just south of BI20 in Stanton.

    This is a permanent restriction.
    Martin County, FM829 over IH20 01-26-16 20' wide and over: The mover must contact the Stanton Maintenance Office at (432) 756-2140 or (432) 231-6931 24 hours prior to crossing over IH20.

    This is a permanent restriction.
    Martin County, FM3033 at IH20 03-16-01 There is no access to FM3033 from the IH20 SFR.
    Midland County, JCT IH20 & FM307 05-16-06 There is no access for the following turns at JCT IH20 & FM307:
  • FM307 EB to IH20 EB
  • FM307 WB to IH20 EB
  • IH20 WB to FM307 EB
  • IH20 WB to FM307 WB
  • Midland County, JCT IH20 & FM1208 08-30-05 There is no access to/from IH20 ML at JCT IH20 & FM1208.
    Midland County, BI20 ML and BI20 SFR in Midland 02-09-12 In Midland: No lowboy type trailers over the railroad tracks between the BI20 EB ML and the BI20 SFR from Todd Dr to E.IH20.
    This restriction also affects all turns from the BI20 EB ML to the BI20 SFR EB or WB or the BI20 WB ML to the BI20 SFR EB or WB.
    Todd Dr is located approximately 3 miles west of E.LP250.

    This is a permanent restriction.
    Midland County, W.SH158/W.LP250 SB over IH20 11-30-15 12' max width and/or no weight southbound over IH20.
    Midland County, SH158 02-09-16 12' max width between 1/2 mile west of FM1788 and 1/2 mile east of FM1788.
    Midland and Ector Counties, SH191 ML, SFR, and NFR 05-25-16 12' max width on the ML, SFR, and NFR between E.LP338 and SH349.

    08-22-16 12' max width and/or no weight between SH191 and ½ mile north of SH158.
    This restriction also affects SH349 where it is double signed with FM1788.
    Midland County, FM1788 08-29-16 12' max width between 2 miles north of FM3503 and 4 miles north of FM3503.
    Midland County, NW.LP250
    Portion of SH158
    04-03-12 In Midland: No weight between IH20 and Fairgrounds Rd.
    Fairgrounds Rd is located approximately 1 ½ miles east of BS349.
    This restriction also affects SH158 where it is double signed with W.LP250.
    Midland County, Fairgrounds Rd in Midland 04-03-12 No lowboy type trailers on Fairgrounds Rd at BI20 in Midland for the following maneuvers:
  • Fairgrounds Rd NB or SB crossing BI20
  • Fairgrounds Rd NB to BI20 EB
  • Fairgrounds Rd NB to BI20 WB
  • BI20 EB to Fairgrounds Rd SB
  • BI20 WB to Fairgrounds Rd SB

  • Fairgrounds Rd is located approximately 2 miles east of BS349.

    This is a permanent restriction.

    This is due to a railroad crossing on Fairgrounds Rd just south of BI20.
    Pecos County, IH10 04-25-16 12' max width between Hovey Rd and Mendel Rd.
    Hovey Rd is located approximately 2 ¼ miles east of the Reeves/Pecos County line.
    Mendel Rd is located approximately 8 ¼ miles east of the Reeves/Pecos County line.
    Pecos County, JCT BI10/US285 & SH18 in Fort Stockton 09-09-13 All loads: A flagman is required to warn traffic as the load makes the following turns at JCT BI10/US285 & SH18:
  • BI10/US285 EB to SH18 NB
  • BI10/US285 WB to SH18 NB
  • This is a permanent restriction.
    Pecos County, US190 06-28-01 A flagman is required to warn traffic for all turns to/from all roads between IH10 and FM305.
    Pecos County, US190 06-28-01 Over 14' wide: Front and rear escorts are required between FM305 and E.SH349.

    This is a permanent restriction.
    Pecos County, US190 07-09-09 Over 200,000 lbs GVW between FM305 and E.SH349 in Iraan: The mover must contact the Iraan maintenance office prior to entering this restriction: (432) 639-27100 7:00 AM - 05:30 PM Monday through Thursday

    This is a permanent restriction.

    This is due to steep hills.
    Pecos County, US285 SB at W.BI10 in Fort Stockton 05-28-02 20' max width and/or 75' max length southbound at W.BI10 in Fort Stockton.

    This is a permanent restriction.
    Pecos and Terrell Counties, SH349 04-16-10 Over 14' wide and/or all trailers over 59’ long: Front and rear escorts are required between US90 and IH10.

    This is a permanent restriction.
    Pecos County, SH349 04-16-10 Over 14' wide and/or all trailers over 59’ long: Front and rear escorts are required between IH10 and E.US190.

    This is a permanent restriction.
    Pecos County, FM305 05-06-09 Over 14’ wide: Front and rear escorts are required between US190 and the Pecos/Crockett County line.

    This is a permanent restriction.
    Pecos County, FM1053 08-22-16 No weight between FM1450 and FM11.
    Reeves County, IH10 EB 08-16-16 12' max width between Hoefs Rd and the Pecos/Reeves County line.
    Hoefs Rd is located approximately 5.5 miles west of the Reeves/Pecos County line.
    Reeves County, US285 over IH20 07-23-15 No weight over IH20.
    Reeves County, US285 03-20-12 No lowboy type trailers over the railroad crossing located between BI20 and FM1216 in Pecos.
    Reeves County, FM652 06-24-16 No weight on the Salt Creek bridge west of Orla.
    The Salt Creek bridge is located bridge just east of the Culberson/Reeves County line.
    Terrell and Pecos Counties, SH349 04-16-10 Over 14' wide and/or all trailers over 59’ long: Front and rear escorts are required between US90 and IH10.

    This is a permanent restriction.
    Terrell County, SH349 03-20-12 No lowboy type trailers over the railroad crossing just north of US90.
    Upton County, SH349 10-24-00 No permits between E.US67 and LP576.

    This is a permanent restriction.
    Upton County, SH349 08-10-16 12' max width and/or no weight between LP576 and the Midland/Upton County line.
    Upton County, FM2594 03-13-15 No weight between FM1555 and FM2401.
    Ward County, IH20 WB over FM1219 03-21-14 No weight westbound over FM1219.
    Ward County, W.BI20 over IH20 in Pecos 07-08-15 No weight over IH20.
    Ward County, SH18 09-09-13 No permits between IH20 and N.LP464.

    This is a permanent restriction.
    Ward County, SH115 09-19-13 No lowboy type trailers over the railroad crossing just north of SP57.

    This is a permanent restriction.
    Ward County, FM516 09-19-13 No lowboy type trailers over the railroad tracks north of BI20 in Barstow.

    This is a permanent restriction.
    Ward County, FM1219 09-19-13 No lowboy type trailers over the railroad tracks north of SP57 .

    This is a permanent restriction.
    Winkler County, Kermit Truck Route 11-06-13 Must use the designated Kermit truck route which is jointly required by Odessa District and the City of Kermit.
    This truck route consists of CR313 on the north and east side, SH302 on the south side, and SH18 from W.SH115 to CR313 and SH115 from SH302 to W.SH18 on the west side.

    This is a permanent restriction.

    Note: CR313 must be used like a highway.
    Winkler County, SH115 03-16-16 12' max width between CR201 in Wink and SH302.
    CR201 is located approximately 1 ½ miles north of FM1232.
    Winkler County, FM1232 11-22-13 15' max height between CR204 and CR402 east of Wink.
    CR204 is located approximately 2 ¼ miles west of SH18.
    CR402 is located approximately 3 ¾ miles west of SH18.
