Subject: New State Form 97, The State of Texas Federal Property Agency Certificate of Release of a Motor Vehicle
These documents contain text of correspondence sent by TxDOT to the county tax assessor-collectors, statutory agents who provide vehicle registration and titling services for citizens in Texas. This information is provided to apprise the general public of issues affecting the state's vehicle titling and registration process.
PURPOSE
To provide you information concerning the new State Form 97, The State of Texas Federal Property Agency Certificate of Release of a Motor Vehicle, used by the Texas Building and Procurement Commission (TBPC).
DETAILS
TBPC processes vehicles donated through the Federal Surplus Property program, which requires the Form 97 to transfer ownership. To expedite the process, TBPC has implemented use of the new Form 97, which is printed in blue ink and includes a control number printed in red ink in the upper right hand corner.
COUNTY ACTION
Please be aware that these new forms, properly executed, are acceptable for transferring ownership of donated vehicles. A voided copy of the form is attached for your convenience.
