DETAILS
The Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) in Huntsville will provide manufactured specialty plates to the vendor for processing/mailing to the county or specialty plate customer starting in mid-July.
If the specialty plate has already been assigned to a vehicle (i.e., remake or orders placed at the county) in the Registration and Title System (RTS), the plate will be sent directly to the specialty plate customer. This direct mail process should save time for the customer, and both time and postage costs for the county.
Any specialty plates that are "undeliverable" to a customer will be returned to TxDOT for handling.
If the specialty plate is not assigned to a vehicle (i.e., new Internet orders), the vendor will send the specialty plate to the county tax office.
