Subject: HB 2575 Electronic Lien Title Program.

PURPOSE

To provide information on HB 2575 regarding lienholder participation in the TxDMV Electronic Lien Title program.

DETAILS

The department's Electronic Lien Title program will continue to be a voluntary program for the foreseeable future. HB 2575, 82nd Legislative Session, provides the TxDMV Board with the authority to require lienholders to participate in the program at some future date.

Prior to any mandated participation in the program, the department will develop rules and a schedule for implementation. At that time, the department will work closely with stakeholders to develop a reasonable and equitable long-term implementation schedule.
