Subject: HB 441 Elimination of the $15 Additional Token Trailer Fee.

PURPOSE

To inform you of the passage of HB 441, relating to fees for certain commercial vehicles including the elimination of the $15 Additional Token Trailer fee.

DETAILS

Effective September 1, 2011, Section 502.167, Transportation Code is amended by removing the requirement to collect the $15 Additional Token Trailer fee at the county tax office. In addition, this bill increased the base fee collected by the Motor Carrier Division for the oversize permit from $75 to $90.

Programming to remove the collection of the fee from the Registration and Title System will be in a future release.

COUNTY ACTION

Do not accept payment of the $15 Additional Token Trailer Fee after August 31, 2011. Please direct these customers to the Motor Carrier Division at 1-800-299-1700, and to select Option 1, followed by Option 1, and again Option 1, in order to request a weight tolerance permit.
