Subject: Registration and Title System (RTS) Version 6.8.1, Legislative Release.
These documents contain text of correspondence sent by TxDMV to the county tax assessor-collectors, statutory agents who provide vehicle registration and titling services for citizens in Texas. This information is provided to apprise the general public of issues affecting the state's vehicle titling and registration process.
PURPOSE
To inform you of changes to RTS.
DETAILS
RTS Version 6.8.1 will be distributed statewide the evening of Sunday, October 23rd, and will be available for use on Monday, October 24, 2011.
This release includes RTS programming changes related to HB 1301 and SB 1635 enacted during the 82nd Legislative Session. It also provides minor defect corrections to RTS.
HB 1301, allows a person to voluntarily contribute $5 or more to the Parks and Wildlife Department when they renew a motor vehicle registration. This legislation also required a space for the voluntary contribution to be included on the face of the Registration Renewal Notice (Form VTR 39-A).
SB 1635, requires a space for the voluntary contribution to the Veterans' Assistance Fund (already available in RTS) to be included on the face of the Registration Renewal Notice (Form VTR 39-A.)
Changes to the Registration Renewal Notice (Form VTR 39-A) will be included on the renewals for January 2013.
These voluntary contributions will also be made available online through Internet Vehicle Title and Registration Service and TxIRP.
