Disabled Parking Placards Not Subject to Registration Refusal Due to Scofflaw Notation

PURPOSE

To remind you of scofflaw handling related to Disabled Parking Placards.

DETAILS

The Texas Transportation Code provides three statutes regarding refusal to register a vehicle due to scofflaw or non-payment of civil penalties.

Sec. 502.010 County Scofflaw.

Sec. 702.003 Refusal to Register Vehicle (City Scofflaw).

Sec. 707.017 Enforcement (Red Light Camera Violation).

The provisions of the three "scofflaw" statutes described above apply only to the authority to refuse to register a motor vehicle and do not apply to the issuance of a Disabled Parking Placard or any other motor vehicle transaction.
