Jeremiah Kuntz


Jeremiah Kuntz is the Director of Government and Strategic Communications for the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles. He began his position with the TxDMV in February, 2011 after having served as Governor Perry’s Transportation Policy advisor.

He has more than 16 years of public service with ten years in state government policy and six years in the United States Marine Corps. He served as budget advisor to Senator Todd Staples and as the transportation analyst for the Senate Transportation and Homeland Security Committee. In his time working in the Senate he tackled tough issues like the budget shortfall of the 78th Legislative Session and finding new innovative ways to fund transportation.

After leaving the Senate, he worked for the Department of Transportation, serving as advisor to Commissioner Ted Houghton. There he assisted in negotiating high profile transportation contracts, developing policies for the commission, and served on the Derivatives and Swaps Advisory Committee.

Jeremiah attended Southwest Texas State University and earned a degree in Finance while serving in the United States Marine Corps Reserves. Shortly after graduating, he became a licensed personal financial advisor before returning to public service.

He lives in Austin with his wife Patricia and their sons Connor and Parker.
