PURPOSE
To inform you of a cash payment processing problem in RTS.
DETAILS
We have been notified that there is a payment processing problem in RTS. The occurrence of this problem is very infrequent and only happens when cash is entered as the payment type. It appears that the payment amount entered is being multiplied by 10 plus three. For example, the payment amount entered is $25, but RTS calculates it as $253 ($25 x 10 + 3).
At this time, receipts reflect the correct amounts for the total due and change due to the customer, but the total amount paid by the customer is shown to be incorrect. The Closeout Report 5213, Transaction Reconciliation 5231, Payment Type Report 5211 and the Countywide 5901, will show discrepancies in the totals.
At this time, it is unknown what is causing this to happen, but please know that TxDMV technical staff is working on a solution. In addition, RTS Support is monitoring the situation daily and will be notifying the counties if any of these errors appear on their reports.
